Moriwaki a “Women in Tech” panelist at Energy Asia 2025
Midori Moriwaki attends the international trade show and serves as a panelist during a session entitled “Women in Tech: Trailblazers Transforming Innovation and Industry”

Energy Asia 2025 is an important executive conference that brings together policymakers, industry leaders, and innovators from across the region and beyond.
Against this backdrop, the session entitled “Women in Tech: Trailblazers Transforming Innovation and Industry” took place at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre in Malaysia on Tuesday 17 June 2025. This panel discussion involved the inspiring voices of Dr Jay Desan (BoomGrow), Midori Moriwaki (PETRONAS MIE Racing Honda Team), and Aireen Omar (Digital & Aviation Leader), the three of whom participated in a high-energy conversation on breaking barriers, seizing opportunities, and redefining leadership in tech-enabled industries.
In today’s fast-evolving energy and technology landscape, women are not just participating – they are leading. From building sustainable food systems and racing ahead in motorsport technology, to navigating the complexities of digital transformation, women are shaping the future through innovation and resilience. The panelists, all leaders in their respective fields, considered the ways in which women are reshaping what it means to lead in highly technical and innovation-driven fields, the challenges women in tech-heavy sectors face, and the values and motivations that drive women leaders to push boundaries and shape change.
Midori Moriwaki undoubtedly has much to contribute to such a discussion, having carved an impressive path in the male-dominated motorsport industry over the last two decades. Having worked for Moriwaki Engineering Co. Ltd. and guided company racing activity for many years, in 2020 Midori entered the FIM Superbike World Championship with a satellite team and Honda machinery, a project she continues to develop today in her role as Team Principal. Now partnered with Malaysian energy company PETRONAS, the PETRONAS MIE Racing Honda Team currently competes in both WorldSBK and WorldSSP. Central to this commitment is the establishment of an innovative academy program, with which Midori aims to foster and elevate the skills of emerging riders.

“It was an honour to be part of the Energy Asia global conference and have the opportunity to speak about women leaders who challenge in high-tech worlds perceived as male dominated. My fellow panelists work in the aviation and agricultural sectors, and I think we had a very good discussion that appeared to be very warmly received by the audience. I was also very pleased to see so many female attendees! After the session, I continued to talk with my fellow panelists, experts in their respective fields. Although we operate in very different areas, many of the challenges we face are similar. We believe it is important to continue showcasing what we are doing, using our own life experiences to inspire and encourage other women. Taking part was an important and very fulfilling experience.”
