The PETRONAS MIE Racing Honda Team travels to the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy, where round four of the 2024 Superbike World Championship is being staged at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli.

The Misano World Circuit beckons for Mackenzie and Norrodin

At the last Assen round, which concluded almost two months ago, Mackenzie profited from the wet weather to score his first points, finishing the two long races in fourteenth and eleventh place. Norrodin had more difficulty adapting to the challenging conditions, but nevertheless gained valuable experience in wet and mixed conditions.

Recent test sessions at the Cremona Circuit and Misano itself have helped both team and riders get back into the swing of things, serving as a good training exercise ahead of the upcoming round, which is likely to run in hot and sunny conditions. The race weekend will provide riders Tarran Mackenzie and Adam Norrodin with an opportunity to verify the effectiveness of the work completed during testing, as the team looks to take another step in the right direction with its CBR1000RR-R machinery.

Inaugurated in 1972, the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli as it is now known has staged WorldSBK events since 1991, often during the summertime. Located in the popular tourist area of the Riviera Romagnola, the Italian racetrack is a favourite with many of the riders. It underwent significant restructuring in 2006, the track both lengthened and widened. Now measuring 4.226 km, the layout incorporates ten right-hand turns and six left-handers.

"“I’m looking forward to Misano. Although we struggled during the recent tests there, I feel we’d found some kind of direction by the time we finished. I’m feeling good in myself so hopefully having a little more time there will help, and we can use some of the data from the tests to start the weekend in a slightly better place. We’ll have to see what the weather brings too, but the aim is to take another step and continue working to get closer to the guys in front.”"

Adam Norrodin Adam Norrodin WorldSBK Rider #27

"“So, we’re about to start the second part of the season with Misano, which is quite an important round for me, coming right after our test sessions. We now know where we can improve, and I think we can do a good job as we’re working well together as a team. The main goal is to be there fighting in the group at the end of the race, so hopefully I can harness my experience and build on it at this next round.”"
