The PETRONAS MIE Racing Honda Team and riders Tarran Mackenzie and Adam Norrodin are now on site at Motorland Aragón in Spain, a matter of days after the squad completed round nine of the 2024 Superbike World Championship at Cremona Circuit, in Italy.

Aragón the second of back-to-back SBK rounds for the PETRONAS MIE Racing Honda Team

Norrodin returns to the garage this weekend after being forced to miss both the Italian and French rounds due to injury. The Malaysian, who will take part in tomorrow’s first free practice before being reassessed by doctors, will do his best to get back into the racing groove after six weeks away from his bike. This tenth championship round at Aragón is one that the two riders are enthusiastic about, and both have recent knowledge of the circuit, having competed in WorldSSP with the same PETRONAS MIE Racing Honda Team last season. The track has since been resurfaced, which may pose a new challenge, but the pair hopes to be able to continue to build on performance as they head into the final rounds of the 2024 championship.

Motorland Aragón is located in Alcañiz, roughly 250 km from Barcelona. WorldSBK has visited this Spanish track on a regular basis since 2011. Measuring 5077 metres in length, the track features a combination of long, sweeping turns and tighter, more complex corners, as well as a long back straight.

Tarran Mackenzie

“We had a very tough time at Cremona, but I’m confident we can do better this coming weekend.  I’m looking forward to Aragón in fact. We haven’t had chance to ride there since it’s been resurfaced, but we head there with more of a direction after what we found on Sunday in Italy. Back-to-back rounds also means that we can get straight back out on track, which helps to keep the momentum going.”

Adam Norrodin

“I want to try and compete this weekend, although my foot isn’t in perfect shape yet. I had a medical check-up at the circuit today and will be seen by the doctors again after FP1, but I’m not sure how it’s going to be until I get on my bike on Friday, to be honest. I’ve missed a lot of rounds and am really keen to get back to work though. As for the track itself, I raced at Aragón last year with the Supersport but I know it’s been resurfaced since then, so we’ll find out what difference that makes. Let’s see what I can do.”
