P14 and P23 for PETRONAS MIE Racing Honda riders Toba and Azman in the SSP season finale in Spain

Toba rounds out the SSP season with more points at Jerez

With the Jerez round now complete, the PETRONAS MIE Racing Honda Team  concludes the 2025 Supersport World Championship, its riders Kaito Toba and Syarifuddin Azman placing fourteenth and twenty-third in the last race of the season.

After a brief warmup during the morning, the weekend’s second and final WorldSSP race ran mid-afternoon over a distance of 17 laps. Toba and Azman lined up in sixteenth and twenty-fifth position on the grid for this season finale.

Toba made a very good start, holding seventeenth through the traffic of the first corners. Part of a large chasing group of riders, Kaito oscillated between sixteenth and twentieth position during the first part of what was an extremely hard-fought race. Sixteenth and less than a second from the points zone on lap eleven, the Japanese rider gave it his all in the final stages, passing two rivals to climb to final fourteenth place. This result awarded him two last championship points, with the rider confirming twenty-fifth place in the general standings (13 points).

Teammate Azman unfortunately slipped to the back of the field early on, but quickly began to regain that lost ground, climbing five places in five laps. Upping his pace through the central phase, Syarifuddin was able to continue with similar consistency all the way to the finish line, concluding P23.

As the WorldSSP season concludes, the PETRONAS MIE Racing Honda Team extends its gratitude to the riders for all their efforts and dedication this year. The squad will announce its future plans in due course.

Kaito Toba #27

“In morning warm up we made a step forward with my lap time. The bike felt okay overall, and I still had some margin to push harder. In the race, I made a decent start, but by the time I got to the end of the first lap I had lost some of the ground I’d gained off the line. The chassis performance was solid, which meant I could make up time through the mixed sections. I did my best to maintain consistent pace and eventually crossed the line inside the points zone. I’d like to thank Midori-san and the rest of the team for this year. It wasn’t an easy season, but I tried my best every weekend. Thanks also to everyone that supports me and believes in me.”

Syarifuddin Azman #63

“Firstly, a big thanks to the whole team for all their hard work this season. As for today’s race, it was another tough one unfortunately, in which I struggled with the bike. It’s a pity we couldn’t do more here, but overall, I’m pleased with the work we’ve done together and with what we’ve achieved this year. See you again next year, hopefully!”
