With no time to rest between one round and the next, the PETRONAS MIE Racing Honda Team is already on site at Autodrom Most in the Czech Republic, the stage for this weekend’s sixth Supersport World Championship round.

Back-to-back events for the PETRONAS MIE Racing Honda Team

Coming straight on the back of the fifth UK round, the Czech race weekend will present riders Khairul Idham Pawi and Kaito Toba with another new challenge, in that neither rider has competed at this track before. The recent Donington Park round brought mixed results as well as a little bad luck, with Toba crashing in race 2 after another rider collided with him while he was battling for the points zone. Pawi also struggled to find the right feeling and pace, achieving a best result of twenty-third in Race 2.

The PETRONAS MIE Racing Honda pair will be wanting more this coming weekend, particularly because they both felt they had made good progress over the course of the Donington practices in the lead up to the races. The fact that the Most round comes just a few days later will afford both Toba and Pawi the opportunity to use all that they learned last time out.

Dating back to the 1980s, the Autodrom Most is a relatively recent addition to the WorldSBK calendar, having first hosted a race weekend in 2021. Located in the north-east of the country, close to the German border, the track currently measures 4.212 km in length and incorporates 21 turns, seven left-hand and fourteen right-hand. Pole position is on the left.

Kaito Toba Kaito Toba WorldSSP Rider #27

"This will be my first time racing at Most. It’s a new track for me and we’ll need to work fast on Friday to learn the layout and set up the bike. We worked well at Donington, and I’m hoping to continue in this direction. We’ll do our best to continue closing the gap and aim for consistent results."

Khairul Idham Pawi Khairul Idham Pawi WorldSSP Rider #89

"I’ve never ridden at the Most circuit before, so my first job will be to learn the track; I hope we can adapt to it quite quickly and find a good rhythm. We’ll do our best to improve on our performance at Donington, building on the progress we saw there in terms of lap times. Hopefully we take another small step in the right direction."
